I have a couple of half bags of compost from last year that i got from the garden centre, i started using the soil this year for my plants but have noticed small, white maggots in the compost. Ive looked online and some say they are bad but others say if they dont have head or legs then the are ok. These maggots dont have head or legs and just look like fishing maggots. As i have already used some of the compost will my veggies be ok?

I agree. And if you dont have a veg plot you could rake it over the lawn and use it as a sort of top dressing and let the robin to the rest.

if you have them in your compost check any pots where the plant looks iffy lift out of pot if possible and look around the roots .if you find any i would treat every pot you have with a vine weevil treatment i use pravado..or they will be back

Spread the rest out on top of a vacant piece of your vegetable plot which is not going to be used for a while. They will be good food for birds. At a rough guess it's vine weevil.
