Hello, I bought a victoria plum tree last year and is growing well, can you please tell me when is the best time to prune it and also how to look after it to get the best out of it. many thanks, Lee Sheppard.

As you only planted the tree last year, I wouldn,t have thought it needeed any pruning yet. Derekm.

I believe, as with many stone fruits, you are supposed to Summer prune plum trees - around July/August, once fruiting has finished, so that silver leaf fungal disease (Chondrostereum
purpureum) doesn't attack the tree by entering through cut surfaces when the weather is cold and wet.
