Is there a Lavatera about 6ft tall which could go where there was a standard rose, in the centre of a garden - not too wide a spread? I should add that I'm pretty old & not looking for any long term projects! Thank you.

Look lower down on this page under Related Products at the Prairie Mallow collection. Have never seen mature ones but might be worth investigating. However it doesn't look as though they will be tall enough for you.

As nice as they are i have one which must be over 5ft in the summer 'BUT' unlike a rose it dies back every year.

The woody, shrub type ones which get this large also have a spread of about 4 or 5 feet, and should be cut right down in early April yearly. Not long lived plants either.

Thank you, all, very much for taking the time to answer my question.
I appreciate your help but it looks as though I'll have to look for something else to fill the gap.
