as a pensioner who enjoys my hanging baskets in my small garden I am finding it rather expensive to replace the liners for my 18 baskets ANY SUGGESTIONS on HOME MADE ones

The best liner for hanging baskets is spagnum moss, I have used hay backed with newspapers.

I have also used the compost bags turned inside out so the blackside is visible. I then put slits in and plant away.
years ago my neighbour used old woollen jumpers as a liner too.

I put moss in mine that has been raked out of the lawn - old black plastic sacks trimmed to size and pricked with holes - and left over black membrane which was used as a liner beneath our patio - (not all at the same time I hasten to add).

there was a piece in gardeners world where the lady was using small branches that had been pruned off conifers as liners.
mu mum uses colourful fabric with plastic bags as liners with small holes as drainage
