I was wondering what would be the best variety of apple tree to plant alongside my Braeburn in order for it to get cross pollinated ? Basically, can anyone advise as to what would be best variety of apple tree to plant next to my braeburn ??? Ian.

Braeburn is a group E apple so any from group E in this list;

Braeburn (group 4) can be pollinated by another group 4 or 3 or 5. They will also be pollinated by a Malus (crab apple). I would look for a cooker/desert apple. Have a look and see if you can find the varieties that are known to be sucessful in your area?

Cox's Orange Pippin, Granny Smith, Gala and Santana come to mind. Any of those will work but try and tailor them to your local situations - dry soil, full sun etc.
