I wanted one for ages and finally planted one 3 years ago. I love it for its graceful form and hanging seedheads and didn't know that it's a thug! Hasn't self-seeded yet but will keep an eye out. Still love it!

Yep, a sedge.
Thuggish is the correct term.
If you have room for it and are prepared to let it GO, then fine... Otherwise burn the brute! :)
