Has anybody else had a message from Jonathan Hales today? In particular, saying farewell?

I cannot bring up his profile Bamboo

His account appears to have been deleted, Bamboo. A while ago he wanted to change his username to Jonathan Wheels ... but realising he would lose his blogs and photos he decided against this.

It must still be there because I just got it up by clicking on his avatar in the private message he sent me. He says he's 'deceased', that his body cannot go on any longer, he will miss his beautiful garden and all his gardening friends, and to say farewell to all - and to remove him from the site, or at least facilitate the removal of his profile. I have responded, but no response so far. I have no idea what might be happening.
It is still there - I typed in Jonathan_hales and did search and it came up....

I remember seeing a comment from him on the lines of "Well, at least your question was answered, unlike mine" ... just checked back to see he asked a question on 1st May re. Ferns ... no reply though. I cannot find any blog entries for him now .......

I believe he's been pretty ill lately, and he isn't well at the best of times...

7 May, 2012

I knew he was dying his account is gone - tried to access from various different angles... so sad!

7 May, 2012

His profile is still there, I've just got it up again. He spells jonathan without the first H and there's that underline inbetween the two names, if you don't put it in absolutely correctly, it doesn't come up.
I guess I'd better do a Contact Us and get his profile deleted, but I can't bring myself to do it just yet...

7 May, 2012

Just accessed his profile and, in the silly hope he or his carer might see sent a pm.

I will miss this man whom I never met and yet exchanged some many pm's and info with...

7 May, 2012

Yes, its the chance to acknowledge and say goodbye back that we'd like... or I would.

7 May, 2012

Yup me too...

7 May, 2012

Jonathan is a nice guy and a good Goyer. Hope all is well for him.

7 May, 2012

Yes it is still there if Jonathan_hales used. I do hope all is well too.

7 May, 2012

I hope so..such good gardener..MG n Bulb are always there for Jonathan..Esp MG..

7 May, 2012

Ah, thank you Pimpernel

8 May, 2012

I dont know him, but thats made me feel quite sad.

8 May, 2012

Poppy, Jonathan created a fantastic garden and lived life to the full, I doubt he would want us to feel sorry for him in any way.

8 May, 2012

I can't bring up his pictures MG...Very inspirational gardener. It is a fantastic garden full and thriving.

8 May, 2012

I am going to wait till the end of the week before telling the boys - just in case, and anyway, it seems unreasonably cold to do away with his profile so rapidly... feels too soon to wipe out his existence.

8 May, 2012

Jonathan's account has been deleted Bamboo, I just tried to access to give Pimpernel a link to his photos...

8 May, 2012

I'm very sad about that, I think its too soon. I've just posted a short blog so everyone can see what the message I received said.

8 May, 2012

Jonathan's garden is a triumph..Shame it is no longer here..as a tribute to the man.

8 May, 2012

I agree Pimpernel... Jonathan's garden was an example of how to create maximum 'wow' in a small space, how to keep gardening even when severely disabled and how to live a full life to the end. I can only assume a family member deleted the account. Bamboo thanks for the blog.

They probably didn't realise how many friends he had on here.

Our local childrens hospice has internet access for the residents, they play computer games and become whoever they want to be and other players see them as such.........they are superheroes.....

8 May, 2012

Probably not Pamg as leaving it would not have affected them.

HI EVERYONE, I AM JONATHAN HALES. I SENT A PERSONAL MESSAGE TO BAMBOO LAST NIGHT NEAR TO 10.00 PM TO TELL HIM THAT I HAD TO PASS AWAY. I NEARLY DIED LAST NIGHT FROM AN HUGE OVERDOSE. BIG PITY IT FAILED. I SO DESPERATELY WANTED TO GO. BUT THE SUICIDE ATTEMPT FAILED. I HAD TO ABORT BECAUSE SOMEONE TIPPED OFF THE FLIPPING POLICE AND THEY CAME AND MADE A MASSIVE MESS. I SWALLOWED THE PILLS AND THEN HID LYING IN THE FLOWERBED IN THE DARK AND RAIN BUT THEY FOUND ME WITH THEIR TORCHES. I WAS THEN TAKEN TO HOSPITAL AGAINST MY WILL. I HAVE TO DIE SOME TIME BECAUSE I AM IN SUCH EXTREME AND TERRIBLE SUFERING AND IN AGONY NOT EVEN PURE MORPHINE CAN CONTROL FOR ME. THE PAIN DRUGS ARE BECOMING WEAKER, AND THEY ARE BECOMING MORE TOXIC AND POISONING TO ME. MY BODY IS JUST A TORTURE CHAMBER OF TOXIFIEDNESS AND EXCRUCIATION. I MAY NOW CONTINUE TO LIVE FOR A FEW MORE DAYS, A WEEK, TWO WEEKS,MAYBE EVEN A MONTH, I JUST DON'T KNOW. IT ISN'T GOOD. MY TIME WITH GOY MAY BE SHORT NOW. I AM SO TERRIBLY SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION AND ALARM I MUST HAVE CAUSED YOU ALL. I DO NOT LACK APPETITE FOR LIFE. I LOVE MY GARDEN SO MUCH AND LIVE FOR IT. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOU KIND THOUGHTS. I WOULD BE SO SORRY TO LOSE ANY OF YOU ALSO, MY FRIENDS. MY HOPE IS TO GARDEN JUST A TINY BIT MORE, IF GOD SO ALLOWS. VERY BEST WISHES, JONATHAN HALES.

I had a feeling in my water about this, and you've just proved it accurate, Jonathan, events leading up to your message didn't make sense really, unless you'd chosen a route out yourself. I'm sorry you survived if you didn't want to, but glad otherwise.

8 May, 2012

So sorry to leave a message on GOY which isn't only about gardening too. I do always try so hard to make it only so. But things just didn't happen that way did they? There's something so wonderful about it really. A site devoted to gardening and garden advising and gardening friendship only. It is a wonderful site.

8 May, 2012

My dear boy what an awful time for you, at least reading all the lovely comments from your Goy friends you will know how much we value your friendship

I am so sorry to read this, Jonathan. Sorry that you are in a position that you felt the need to take the pills and sorry that you did not get your release. I have enjoyed talking to you via GoY and will miss you when it finally happens. Go peacefully and know that many on GoY love you.

Ah my friend my heart breaks for you... I suspected you were going to try to commit suicide and am so sorry that some interfering person prevented you from doing so. May you have a speedy and peaceful passing. I have loved looking at the photos of your garden and sharing advice with you - it's been a two way street. Bless you Jonathan.

8 May, 2012

I have never met you Jonathan but your a very brave person, and I pray that you find peace.

8 May, 2012

Bless you Jonathan, you have brought so much to us on Goy and I sincerely hope that your peace comes soon, you have no need for apologies......

8 May, 2012

Jonathan, I knew you were ill or handicapped in some way but you always battled on with your gardening and I have always admired your work and read your posts with interest. I had no idea you were suffering so much pain. You have been so brave and so inspiring. I wish you peace.

8 May, 2012

I agree wholeheartedly with all the above comments,Jonathan..and may you find peace soon,if that is your wish..as the pain seems to have got too much for you to bear..I have also loved looking at pics of your garden..you have so many friends on here, that will miss you very much..xx

8 May, 2012

Good to know you are still gardening in spite of everything Jonathan - don't let the b's get you down! We are here for you until you move onto the next step in your life...

9 May, 2012

It's good that you can express your feelings on here,Jonathan...more than 'just' a Gardening site....it covers the highs and the lows, without being intrusive, and talking to friends can be a great help,as many of us have found out.....so glad you felt like going out into your garden..and as Mg says,,we are all here for you..

9 May, 2012

I agree wholeheartedly with what has been said.....Goys a family

9 May, 2012

I agree - non garden related stuff is fine, I don't see a problem with it personally. And by the way, Jonathan, I'm female, not male!

9 May, 2012

It is such a cruel situation you find yourself in Jonathan we tend to assume that pain relief is always available.

9 May, 2012

Oh my goodness. I do so beg your pardon, thinking you were a chap. What a surprise. How did I manage that!?

9 May, 2012

You are not the only one Jonathan Scrumpygraham thought so too! Did you manage to put your wonderful photos back up on the site?

9 May, 2012

Don't worry about it, Jonathan, as MG says, you certainly weren't alone - lots of people thought I was male a couple of years ago.

9 May, 2012

I've just noticed on your 'profile'. I feel embarrassed now. I always imagined you looked a bit like Monty Don. (Jo Swift)? Maybe I should enlarge my photo. My face is only a dot.

9 May, 2012

Ah, bamboozled you I'm afraid - I changed my profile only this afternoon to 'plantswoman' instead of 'plantsman', which I'd put initially because the female version sounds daft... Lily2 posted a photo of me last summer following our trip to The Roof Gardens, and I don't think I look like Monty Don or Jo Swift, lol! At least I hope I don't...

9 May, 2012

Bamboo is running circles around me this evening. I'm completely outdone. A master riddler of androgeny. Might put a few pics back tomorrow Moon-grower.

9 May, 2012

Sorry, that wasn't my intention - perhaps I shouldn't have confessed, lol! I wonder whether that 'plantsman' was why people thought I was male. But I used to think Spritzhenry was male when I first joined, seemed like a masculine name somehow, so you can't often tell unless people give clues. I wrote a blog 3 years ago and mentioned being in my nightie, which was when I found out how many people thought I was a man... caused a bit of consternation, as I recall, lol.

9 May, 2012

Well I am Joanne-athan, and I have been all along. Got you! (And got the last laugh). And I wear a wig!

9 May, 2012

;-)))

9 May, 2012

lol J!

9 May, 2012

Ha...nice one..Bamboo wears the trousers on this site and don't you forget it.! ;)

9 May, 2012

Funnily enough, Pimpernel, I rarely wear anything but trousers, lol! I'm looking forward to a photograph of Jonathan in a wig though...

9 May, 2012

Now will Jonathan be a blonde bombshell, a simmering redhead or a sultry brunette? Wait he might be a silver goddess!

9 May, 2012

I have just taken a self portrait of myself this morning in the garden with my flowers behind my head. And then I have added it to my photo page. It's a really good picture, quite lovely really. I'd love you all to go and see it. (My past few days have been so dark. You are all keeping me so cheerful and positive. Chatting and joking with you on GOY has really been cheering me up and helping me through. Thank you all so much). No movie star. No wig, just a proud baldie. I care nothing for hair. I wouldn't want it back.

10 May, 2012

Good Morning Jonathan, its a lovely photo and great to see you smiling after all the dark days, as to the hair, well its very modern you know, people pay a lot of money to get that style, lol, some of the comments on here have made me smile as well, Bamboo has always reminded me of my old teacher at senior school, have to say a rather strict lady but very respected, lol....

10 May, 2012

I thought that until
I saw the lovely photo Lily2took.......

Going to look at your photo,s Jonathan

10 May, 2012

I enjoyed looking at your lovely garden Jonathan......and remembered to put you back on to my faves.......:0))

10 May, 2012

Well I am resisting the temptation to go and see what you look like Bamboo..People never look the same as the mental picture we have in our heads. A bit like the difference between a book and the film. No I will settle for the image I have, the good advice and the odd bit of humour.

10 May, 2012

Gosh Pam I had`nt done that, all sorted now, I couldn`t resist Pimpernel, I didn`t know the pic was there as I do miss lots of pics.
Bamboo, nice to put a face to the image....

10 May, 2012

just had another look at Lily's photo...Nah...not a strict scoolmarm.....more a fun friend.........:0)

10 May, 2012

Stop it....I'm not going to look.

10 May, 2012

What a lovely smiling face, Jonathan (been and had a look at your pic)!
Lincslass: 'a rather strict lady...' ha ha, made me laugh. I have strong opinions and ideas which I express, and am forthright, blunt and impatient - but I'm not strict because I don't actually mind at all whether people agree or not, and whether they follow the advice I give or not - that's their choice. 'Strict' usually means you expect people to do as you say...

10 May, 2012

I've just looked at your pic too,Jonathan....:o)) I agree with Lincslass, hairstyle is irrevalent..it's the person that counts ..very modern at the moment,anyway..

10 May, 2012

How do I say thanks?
