Could be considered a wild flower instead of 'weed' - has lilac flowers later. Seeds like the devil though... Stop nurturing it though, it'll be less likely to flower if you do.

I am one of those that pulls it up. It is a pretty plant but can quickly take over if it is not controlled.

No need to nurture this is growing in cracks in the cement in my garden. I have a few that I leave too as they will grow in the driest of soil and add some height to the geraniums and heuchera in the same area. At the first sign of seeds I cut the spires out as it will produce hundreds of tiny seeds.

A weed isonly a plant growing in the wrong place so if you hate it its a weed and if you like it then it isn't. simple.

Thanks for all the views on this wild flower / weed. I have taken it up as I was concerned by the amount of seed it would have produced in the flower bed. BUT I have moved it to the a sunny corner in the paddock were it can spread all it likes without a problem. Bye for now.

It's purpe toadflax. It is regarded by many, maybe even most folk, as a weed, but I allow some self- seeded plants to grow just because the bees absolutely love it.
This doesn't help does it, really? Others will be more convincing, I'm sure.
