can anyone tell me what species of tree this is?

United Kingdom 
the tree is about 6m tall, 12 years old but recently pollarded.
green bark, leaves are finely serrated.
i've searched but cannot identify it.

glad that my memory isnt getting as dim as i thought. its a lovely tree and of course the birds love the fruit. they are very sour :o( mind dont know if we are meant to eat them lol.
