I've had some potted dahlia's on the kitchen window ( much to mrs fergy's disappoval ) for a few weeks now and am wondering when to start nipping the growing tips out, one or two are starting to get a bit straggly.

Answers
Cut back to about the 4th pair of leaves.
That should give you plenty of side growth. Leave them outside at all times now until planting out towards the end of this month.
