I'm not sure where in the States you live, and how cold your winters are. I am in the UK in Scotland and my main bloodgood (which is in a pot) is in full leaf.
A second blood good I had became damaged and has sent out a small stem from the base with a couple of leaves. I am hoping it will eventually re-establish itself.
I think this tree grows in USDA zones 5 - 8.

The flowers on the red acer palmatum are totally insignificant... the tree/shrub is grow for its foliage. Mine are all in full leaf already - where do you have yours in the garden?
