We are having our golden wedding on August 8th 2009 and would like to have lots of yellow flowers blooming in the garden at that time. What do you recommend we plant?

Far too late to plant actual shrubs to flower in August - you would have needed to do this at least a year ago! Look at bedding plants and herbacious plants that you can buy to flower this year. As a plea please do not remove the shrubs etc you already have - why destroy something that is happy and growing?

Rudbeckia fulgida 'Goldsturm', Coreopsis, Solidago (Golden Rod), Heleniums, they all flower at that time and are definitely gold!! You can buy all of these in Garden Centres at the moment and plant them now to get flowers this year. These are all perennials.
Shrubs - well there's Hypericum 'Hidcote' and Potentilla fruticosa (several named bright yellow ones), they flower in late summer.
