Thanks for the suggestion MG, I would never have thought of looking there. I did find some but there were only a massive show chrysanthemum and a couple of orchids, neither of which fills the bill. Never mind, it was just a thought.

There are some very attractive herbs available - pretty variegated Thyme comes to mind. They have the advantage of fragrance, too. How about 'Catmint' (Nepeta) as well?

More lovely suggestions! Herbie is about 14 and came to live with us about 12 years ago - broke three cat flaps in his determination to get in so eventually we let him stay! He was living wild at the time and it was a long time before he became a "pussycat" but turned out to be probably the most intelligent cat we've had, and weighed a stone - muscle, not fat. Sad to see him now reduced to a skeleton covered with fur, but no one lives for ever. But to lose two cats and a son within a year is a bit much.

We do have catmint, Spritz, and our other cat's ashes are buried under it! Maybe there is room for two.
