Anyone know what these bushes are? They are both about 50cm high and 90cm wide. Both are 5 years old. The names on the ident tags have bleached off.<Many thanks to those who replied. Weigela Bristol Ruby and Pieris Japonica Mountain Fire appear to be correct.>

The first one is a weigela maybe Bristol Ruby but not certain, agree with Ojibway on the second

You could call the second one 'Yellow Birdie'! A Pieris.

First is Weigela . There are a number with the name Ruby in it and the most popular is Bristol Ruby so that's the most likely
Second is Pieris Forest Flame. Your new red growth is an unusually deep red ( or is it just the photo) which is interesting. Normally its more of a rosy or pinky red.

That is why I didn't opt for Forest Flame, Inverglen. I have seen one that looks like this but can't remember what it is called.

I don't think the second one is Pieris forest flame - much more likely to be one of the Pieris japonica varieties such as Mountain Fire, but hard to be sure.
I'm still not sure about the first photo - at first glance, it could be an azalea, but its also very like Weigela - need a close up to be sure.

Hi
The bottom one is Pieris Katsura I think. I had one last year that looked very similar and my mum has one too. Unfortunately mine has died a death, shame because it was lovely!

Have just seen your Pieris at my local garden centre ( or very very similar ) . Pieris Japonica Mountain Flame . Looks like Bulbaholic was probably right.

The first is an Azalea, I think? The second one looks like a Pieris? Sorry I can't help with variety names, though.
