Nova Scotia, Canada
One of four japanese maples planted late last summer in Nova Scotia, Canada did not fully produce new leaves. The others are full with rich colour, but the one has about a dozen dull leaves. I've pruned the dead branches. Is there something else I can do?

The one tree is behind our property and doesn't have any windbreakers...yet anyways. Thanks! We'll try to move it and see if that helps.

Yes, I would move it. Young Acers are very susceptible to wind damage, which shrivels the new leaves.

Even established Japanese Acers do not like wind, as our garden gives evidence to this year after a howling gale a few weeks back.

Mine will only live in the gh, if I put it out all the leaves fall off.....

Pam acers are fully hardly where ever you live in the UK you need to find somewhere out of the wind that is all.

Not really, did you plant them all in the same conditions or is the dying one in a windy spot?
