As Spritz said you can, but subject to the type of liner you have, I have found that plants that naturally grow vertical are a good alternative to trailers as these will give width to a basket.
What happens is; the vertical plant hangs down from the lower regions of the basket, and as the plant naturally grows vertical it does a "U" turn and grows upwards,this gives width to the basket.
To give additional depth to a basket alternate natural trailers and vertical plants and you wil get the best of both worlds.

Yes indeed - a good choice, although you'd need other trailing plants too.
