our stella cherry is about 6 years old and is a good fruiter. This year the flower buds started opening in the early warm weather and then when it became cold they stopped. They are now browning and there are no signs of leaves. What is this and what can I do?

Scratch a bot of the branch to check if it is still live underneath. Green is fine, yellow or brown is not. I bought 3 bare root trees this year, 1 stella, 2 apple. 1 apple is really struggling and died back. I think it is too dry, though it is in clay soil at the bottom of a slope. If you put your finger in the soil near the tree to check how dry the soil is - as it may need a good watering.
