conifers

i have a small conifer set in a tub with other plants around the outside of it but they keep dying and have to be replaced but the conifer thrives are there any bedding plants that will survive or even thrive with the conifer, i have already tried pansies, polyanthus, and busylizzies where do i go from here please help

Conifers take up lots of moisture and goodness from the surrounding soil and tend to dry it out. . All of the plants you've tried should work. You will need to keep it very well watered and fed, and keep topping the soil up so the roots to your bedding plants have somewhere pliable to grow into.
