Need help with roses. Love them but know very little about them, bought 5 just because I liked the colours, they are bushes and as I only have a patio they are in pots. The label says for beds or mixed borders, will they be ok?

Thanks, had to spray to get rid of greenfly last week. Also made a mistake when feeding the plants, instead of watering at the base of the stem I wet it all over and it left marks on the leaves that I had to wipe off, should've read the instructions.

I would say no unless they are designed for pots on patios.
At a guess, the roses you have bought may be ok for a short while, but eventually the roots they produce will outgrow the container.

Agree with Scrumpyg above - depends on the variety of rose you've bought whether they'll do well in pots for any length of time.

Yes, I notice that David Austin has some vars. of shrub roses that he recommends for pots. I had 'Benjamin Britten' in a pot last year and it was ok, but I took pity on it and planted it in the ground where it is much happier! The only rose I have in a pot is my patio rose which is fine of course.

well, My rose bushes actually do better in pots than in the garden! All roses love sun so make sure they are in the right position.Feed them, water them and dead head regularly and they should be fine. You may still need to spray them for greenfly even in pots, but they seem to get this problem less than in the main garden.
