I am going to piggy back on this Question, because I have it, too, but have no idea what it is called, either. It came with me from another garden.

Umm...I'm sure I've seen this today...somewhere, J...
Is it "espresso" or "dark reiter"?

Bamboo - may I just add that my one is not a new variety. It was in my old garden for at least ten years before it arrived here three years ago?

Probably the original 'Black Beauty' then?

Yes, Bamboo, I think that's right. I do remember that name. Thankyou.

Well done, Bamboo! Two birds with one stone!
ML - glad you got your answer, too. She's good at this, isn't she?

I could throw in - Geranium pratense 'Purple Haze'
I got hold of one last year and this year it has actually flowered, at last. Looks just like the above.

Like Clems, I find that there are lots of hardy geran's that look similar but have different names. I got most of mine from seeds or cuttings collected along the way. so have no idea of names. I did check out the Hardy geranium site that had a photo for all their named varieties. But I can't find the link now. It was quite eye opening as to the miniscule differences in some varieties.
