Something is chewing at the stems of our gunnera manicata plant. Does anyone know what this animal might be?

I don't know. It doesn't look very appetising! You could try organic slug pellets and a mouse trap and see what you catch or put some sort of barrrier around it (chicken wire or twiggy sticks in case it's pigeons). Or one of those automatic cameras that they use in the jungle to photograph rare animals as they go by!
