I have had an Acer Drummondii growing very healthily for over 20 years, it is quite a large tree now and has produced stunning variegated leaves every year until now. This year the leaves are variegated but the variation is very indistinct more a paler green than cream. Does anyone know why or what to do about this?

You're not alone - my variegated Acer 'Flamingo' is just the same. Its the weather conditions - not enough warmth and certainly not enough sunlight. Not much we can do I'm afraid.
