Given the extremely strange weather we have had this year I am not surprised. At the time when your tree would/should have been flowering in April there were no pollenating insects around due to the monsoon conditions. Our Victoria Plum has barely any fruit on it.

I also seem to remember reading on GoY that a Victoria Plum can fruit so well that it doesn't fruit the following year. Yup found the thread:

Never had the problem of Biennial bearing, but no fruit this year, probably because of the cold when the flowers were out, so no bees.

That is what I'm putting our lack of fruit down to as well Owdboggy.

There are few Damsons and looking down the lane today I could find not a single Sloe either. Fortunately we thought it might be a bad year so the Boss made enough Jam and Chutney to last until the next harvest.

We had a Victoria plum once that was absolutely laden with fruit one year, we had to prop up the branches so that they didn't break! Then the following year it died!!! Was that it's death throes?!!
We have another one now which did lose a lot of blossom due to the weather this year, but it also has plenty of fruit coming along now, so some was saved! We did try to cover it as much as we could during the worst of the weather, so maybe it paid off a bit.
Just want what's left to continue to full fruition now so that we can enjoy some luscious Vics later on in the year!!
