Is there anything I can do to keep my Pear tree safe?

I planted a dwarf comice pear tree a few years ago, steadying it with a post and tying it; mistakenly, with covered wire. The wire has cut into the trunk and I have now removed it. Is there anything I can spray it with to prevent it being attacked by pests and suchlike or just to keep the tree "safe"?
