Does anyone want some of these? (Lily Beetles)
Hampshire, United Kingdom
I found just under a dozen of these on Saturday. I squashed the lot. But I'm sure there are more around. It seem's that they turned up right after Gardners World decided to talk about them. Sorry for the confussion, it's the Lily Beetles I would offer for free.

Sorry, meant to say "I squashed the Lily Beetle". As for the Fritillary's, I'm more than happy their numbers have almost doubled this year (2nd year).

There is a harmless bright red native beetle which can be mistaken for lily beetle, so do be careful of your identification. The native one is a garden friend as it is a carnivore.

This looks very much like the 7 I squashed today - they had already made a very good meal of the lilies!

Strolling around the garden intent to search out the slugs and snails attacking my lillies, I was shocked to find a lily beetle, I'm sure there are many more like it lurking in the greenery too, the lilles have certainly made a tasty meal for them. I dread to think what a mess they'll look like when they grow bigger. I also heard about them on Gardeners' World. My lilies have been growing happily in pots for about three years and I've not had this problem before. Suppose I've just been one of the lucky ones. I've heard companion planting may help. Something strong smelling like French Marigolds?? I;ll try anything to ensure my lilies come up again. I have a piccy of a pot of red ones in my members area - this shows how they looked last year. Beautiful.

I found 3 about 3 weeks ago. They got squished. I wonder what they want with your Fritillarys?
