a friend of mine would like some of my hellebores. could i dig it up and split it now. i read somewhere to wash the roots before splitting it up is that necessary?.also, do you cut all the foliage right down before you split it up?

You're welcome Scotkat, great weather here too for the solstice I've been getting to grips with various shrubs that have outgrown the space allotted to them :-) Whilst Bulba is weeding away, spend a week away from your garden and - guess what weeds everywhere!

A friend gave me a few good clumps a few weeks ago. She just dug up a section of each of her clumps put each one in a good sized pot full of compost and we have kept them watered till we decide exactly where to plant them. They have been perfect. Very simple and nothing fancy has been done with them.
