Why fruits from my Stella Cherry tree drop?

for last two years we have not had any fruits because all the cherries drop before they ripened.

According to the RHS it's called fruit run-off. They suggest that it might be caused by low light levels. Is your tree too shaded by walls, or other trees? Or maybe you live too far north for cherries to thrive?
