Hi
I planted a tree peony last year. This year it was coming on, although slowly, but when I looked recently the one flower bud had died and some leaves have gone brown and the stems are also being affected. Maybe the frost got the bud, but the affected leaves are more protected in the middle of the plant. Peony fungal diseases are described as grey, not brown, so I've no idea what's happening to it. Anyone know what is wrong?

Thanks for that. I'll try resist the urge to water. I'm going to try clear more space around it to give it a better chance.

Actually that is another thing, they hate other plants taking nutrients, so do clear more space. The flowers on mine lasted a week due to the weather and I spent 5 of those days away! Suppose the leaves are nice.

Had similiar trouble this year and it was down to late frost, some of the new tender growth (leaves and stems)
turned brown and had to be cut back.

These late frosts are creating havoc aren't they, and they seem to be getting later and later. Together with the droughts and floods our plants must be very confused!

« Can anyone tell what I am doing wrong. I know this isn't a gardening question...
Hi, was the Tree Peony bare root? They take time to grow feeding roots and settle in. Too much watering is the most common problem with them. They wilt in spring due to the change in temperatures and people think that they need more water when all it is doing is getting used to the temperature.
