This should be pruned immediately after flowering so as Skilla says you've had it for this year but will be ok next year.

« I'd like to plant the already flowering alliums rather than wait until Autumn
I have a Deutzia and it flowers on old wood, so if you cut it back last year not many flowers this year i'm afraid, next year should be better if you don't cut it back again.
Welcome to GOY by the way!!
