My dad used to treat the soil around rhubarb with Jeyes fluid. Does anyone know how to do this, when to treat it and how much to use?

As far as I remember he used a diluted solution and made holes in the soil around the rhubarb and pored the solution into the holes. Has anyone heard of treating rhubarb in this way?

Jeyes fluid 'used' to be used as a way of sterilising the ground seemingly the EU has put a stop to that as it is a rather nasty chemical.

No. I'm mystified - people used to use Jeyes fluid to kill off weeds! Will be interested to see what the response is from veg/fruit people (which isn't me)
