Flower ID please,
I picked these cut flowers up yesterday in M&S and I would like to grow some in my garden next year, any ideas what they are? Many thanks.

Eryngium. There are lots of them in different heights and different shades of blues and silvers. And different degrees of prickliness too. Some are like daggers.

Yes, it looks like Eryngium alpinum, it's the only Eryngium I like...gorgeous!

Some of the bluest ones are biennials though. Some of the biggest have tiny nondescript flowers. E. pandanifolium makes a huge plant, but the flowers............. nothing like the blue ones.

I will send you some once the seeds I got from booboosmum are big enough Marion, I have one in my front garden I picked up a few weeks ago from Morrisons thats growing really well. I love these, I just call them prickly things as no idea how to pronounce thier name xxx

Thanks everyone for your help its very much appreciated, I cant wait to grow some as I think they are lovely and Magnadoodle I cant wait to get some seeds through the post, I have never grown seeds before so I will really look forward to it.

I live by the sea and I have erigynum Sea Holly. And I love it. Easy to grow and bees love it.

There is also a similar version, but much smaller heads, a bit like small lollypops, called "Echinops" but much more pricklier! Similar colour too . Lynda
