I planted a blue clematis last year (sorry I can't remember it's name) and it produced lots of blooms. However, this year - its produced lots of greenery but not a single bloom! Can anyone tell me why?

Might be its a later flowering one? Was it in flower when you planted it last year, and what time of year was it?

Thanks for your reply. I planted the blue clematis round about this time last year together with a lovely red clematis to grow either side of a pergola. Both were in full bloom when planted and Both have shot up the pergola with lots of foliage. The red clematis is producing lots of beautiful blooms this year. However, the blue clematis has only managed lots of fluffy pompoms!

I responded to your PM, but an additional query - are the fluffy pompoms from last year, or could they be? Did you prune it at all since you got it?

How do I say thanks?
