Gold Rider Trees

I planted 12 of these trees just 12 months ago. 4 of these trees at the bottoms have a lot of browny coloured branches and the fir bits are dropping and they look quite horrible compared with the rest.
I have sprayed them as I was told to with an aphid spray and I keep them well watered when needed. The top of these trees are very healthy looking but I am worried as what to do next as I don't want to lose them. Can you help? No photo's

You probably won't lose them, but at some point, those 4 trees have probably dried out a bit at the roots and have cut off circulation to the lower branches. Sacrificing the few to save the whole. Not sure they regenerate from lower down, most (though not all) conifers don't.
