My oriental poppy's have finished and looking very messy.I cut them all right back last year but I have promised a friend some seeds from them.Could I take some heads off now and dry them indoors or not..I know its very early and the pods are still very green but Im itching to clear the space a bit.Thankyou

I would agree with that. I actually like the seed heads, but a couple left to get ripe will certainly give you enough seed for the whole neighbourhood.

That is what I would do too. To collect the seed the seed head must ripen first Kate otherwise the seed wont be viable.

I would cut everything down apart from a couple of seedheads that I would leave to mature. After all you will get hundreds of seeds from each head.
