Can anyone tell me what is happening to my artichokes. They are dying from the bud downwards. I assume it is a disease but don't know how to treat the problem. I have removed the diseased stems and got rid of them.

No, I don't use weed killer in my flower garden.

It looks like its been sprayed with weed killer (top pic leaves on rh side). Could this have happened?
