it is due to lack of water. either water more frequently or pot up into a bigger pot and add water retaining crystals to help it out :o)

Yes, roses are moisture loving plants. I grow lots of things in pots, and in this warm breezy weather things dry out very fast. It's hard work keeping up with all the watering. I test each of my pots for moisture level at least two times a day. a) I stick my finger in the top to see how it feels, and then b) I tilt each pot to see how much it is weighing. A dried out pot is very much heavier to tip than a fully watered one, and is an important indicator. Even despite all my diligence and effort, I still have some pots dry out on me a fraction too far sometimes, and then whatever is in it stresses and ails. From what you describe, I'd say your rose can probably recover fine, and flower too.
