Laying Turf

Not sure what you mean really, so the facetious answer would be soil! But it should have been dug over, stones and weed roots removed, levelled, trodden down, then raked up to make a fine tilth so the roots of your turf can get into it. Throw loads of Growmore onto the tilth before laying the turf. If your soil is particularly heavy, you could mix some sharp sand in when you're preparing it, but as long as you've got a fine tilth for the top two inches, it'll be fine.
