I have some canterbury bells which I planted last year and have flowered beautiful this year..well that was up until the last 2 days and the rain has knocked them all down, snapped off and have really taken a bashing.I need to get rid of them... am I right in thinking I have to pull them right up now as they have done all they have to do.Its such a shame the flowers are so lovely still but looks like a helicopter has landed in them :(

Cammomile is 100% correct ; you now have these lovely plants for ever more. Trim off the broken bits and let the plants die down naturally. If you need that space now and have to move them then dig them up with a big root ball if possible and move them although a bit later in the year might be best

No you don't pull Canterbury Bells out, they are perennials and come up again next year. Just cut off the flower stalks and they will die down in the winter and come up again next year.
