can I transplant a cordyline ?

My cordyline is fine but it's in the wrong place. Should I wait until autumn to move it, do the roots go deep? It was here when we moved in so I have no idea how old it is. I don't want to lose it as it is in good shape, but the shrub behind it is much too near and much bigger. Any advise would be welcome.

i would wait until autumn now as it will be harder to get it to re-establish. would it be easier to move the other shrub? what is the other shrub by the way?
