My Astilbe is being decimated . Can you help please?
United Kingdom
The culprit looks like a tiny caterpillar about 0.7 cms long with a black head and jaw, a dark internal line down an otherwise mid green body, and a tiny black spot at the other end. I can't focus close enough to get a photo. Non-chemical solution preferred.

If you've got any Seaweed solution, spray the astilbe with it. Pests hate the taste of it!

I suspect this is a newly emerged caterpillar of the small White Butterfly, a close relative of the Cabbage White. Grit your teeth and squash the little b......! Better still, pick it off and put it on the birdtable. Very nourishing for robin nestlings.
