Hi. I have 3 Indian Blood peach trees that were grown from seed and are now 4 years old. They put on a lot of fruit this year but most of them have developed a black tarry looking substance on them where the peach attaches to the tree and are rotting on the tree. What is this and how do i treat it

You put the paste on now as you want to stop more spores being produced and the fungus spreading. I would say 1 tbl spoon of baking powder mixed with a little oil and water until you have a thick oily paste.

it sounds like Black Spot (you get it on fruit trees as well). A solution of baking soda, olive oil and water kills black spot fungus (you make a paste and paint it all over the black area and that kills it) as does a fungicide spray.
