Visiting Arundel , West Sussex next week for a couple of days. Any suggestions for gardens etc to visit within reasonable driving distance? Any hidden gems ?

There is a new garden in Arundel castle grounds. Many of the features are made of huge pieces of oak. There is an elaborate potager/vegetable garden and lots of interesting ornaments too. The grounds themselves are also interesting. There is a huge Cork Oak near the new Gardens.

Where to start!! Denmans gardens at Fontwell, Petworth Park, Borde Hill Gardens - 150 acres at Haywards Heath, Wakehurst at Ardingly - they also have the millennium seed bank - Highdawn at Worthing which has planting on chalky ground and Nymans Gardens at Hand Cross just off the A23 from Brighton. Finally the white garden at Sissinghurst. They are not too distant from Arundel. Have a lovely time.
