best soil for aloe vera

Answers

In pots, a commercially available "Cactus Mix". In the ground--assuming your winters are mild--1 part coarse sand, 1 part pumice or perlite, and 3-4 parts native soil, thoroughly mixed outside the hole, and the first 1/2 inch scratched into the bottom of the hole to make a transition layer. A sudden change in soil texture can stop the drainage, and aloes need excellent drainage!

thank you, could you tell me anything about what is wrong when the 'branch' turns to jelly. Probably poor drainage,

Could be sap leaking from a damaged area? The inside of the leaves is like jelly and is what is used medicinally.
