My daughter who lives abroad gave me an olive tree last year but sadly last February the tips of the leaves have all gone brown. Can I save it? it means a lot to me.

Sorry to butt, in but your tree looks quite mature and large. I can't see the size of the pot. Perhaps you could consider repotting in a bigger size pot enough to get fresh soil round the bottom and sides fairly easily and it will probably respond well to this attention. Foliar spray feeding also will give it a boost as well.

Hey Dorjac, you're not 'butting in' - you had something else that was useful to say different from me - all contributions welcome as far as I'm concerned, lol!

It's not dead, nor dying - the tips of the leaves were damaged by the sudden cold last February, so it doesn't look very attractive. Note that the new growth higher up is perfectly healthy. As so many leaves are affected, you can't really remove them all - as the plant grows, new growth should replace the damaged leaves. Although its an evergreen plant, these do drop leaves year round, so gradually, you should lose the damaged ones. Possibly this wouldn't have happened if February hadn't been so much colder than the rest of the winter prior to it.
