Please help me! I am new to gardening and have not got a clue how to repair my horrible patchy garden? a few days ago i threw some grass seed over the garden and have been watering it with a watering can every evening. I'm not sure how much i should water, should i be soaking it with a hose? Is there anything i can buy to help it along although i would be that flush wioth cash so it would have to be reasonably priced.

I suggest, if you haven't a hover mower, you make the first cut of the new growth with shears - tedious, I know, but you risk tearing out the little plantlets by the roots otherwise. And did you scratch up the soil in the bare patches first to give it something to root into?

Don't panic! As long as the seed has some moisture it will germinate. According to the recent weather forecast we are all due for a spell of rain, so that should save you having to water it. When the grass comes up avoid walking on it for a while, to help it get established. Cut it with the mower on a high setting to start with. Good luck ... I'm sure you'll soon have a lovely lawn!
