planted this red rose a few months back ,got it cheap ,was labelled up as a bush rose as I remember or might have been unlabelled ,was a while back now but it seems to have a very long stem ,two very long stems as you can see ,does anyone know if this could be a climbing rose perhaps??

Does look like a climber. Maybe if you don't have anywhere else to plant it you could get a plant support like say a pyramid or an obelisk over it and train it up that. If it proves to be a rampant climber you'll have to find it somewhere else. Lovely colour though! Good luck,

I reckon its more likely a rambler because of the growth habit and the smaller flowers. If it has one main flush of flowers for about 6 weeks and then stops, that'll be a rambler. Can't see the flowers clearly - possibly its Crimson Shower or Excelsa. Do as Tess above says, give it support and see what it does. May be better grown up a wired wall, a trellised pillar or against a wired up fence.

I do hope it is something like an Excelsa', I have 2 of these climbers and both flower non stop from mid summer to the autumn giving a lovely show, but the colour is listed as crimson-pink and they do not look as dark as yours.

We all are when we start, Smasher - I remember when plants were just 'bushes' or 'flowers' to me...

Looks like a climber to me because reminds me of my Rose 'Excelsa'? although I think yours is a dark red?
