Has anyone noticed the "nuptual flight" of the ants yet? It was forecast to happen yesterday and it didn't here although there is some activity in one nest in my lawn. They were forecast to all fly together (safety in numbers) but my OH says its bound to be on Saturday when he's playing cricket.

No sign yet - and there is a metropolis of them under my patio!! We've not had enough sun, even though it has been warm.

OH jet washed the block paving yesterday and there were millions (well, maybe not millions but lots!!) of them running all over. I've a really tall foxglove in the garden and it looked like they were nesting in there - yuk - it's now in the bin!!

They've invaded the conservatory for the past two days but no sign of them flying yet. The ones that came inside will never fly again though. (I really hate killing things, but what can you do...)

It's not an event I look forward to, in a cricket match or any other time!

I agree with you, Steragram, but once ants enter the house, it's "curtains", I'm afraid!

Doesnt this usually happen earlier than this? They are in my garage at the moment, not sure I want to be around when they finally decide to flit!

Yes it usually is earlier but they haven't had the hot weather to take to the air.

A few dead ones on our carpet in the living room and one on my arm yesterday but not seen flying outside. With this hot weather they might be courting soon.

Its 19.08 and the ants are taking off - 2 big nests in our garden and one next door. Funny how its so co-ordinated.

Coordinated ant take off is one of natures puzzles....perhaps to do with local weather conditions that urge them to fly and go forth and multiply.....or whatever?

Not a sign in East Devon either.
