Bee Balm

What could be causing the following on my bee balm plants? I have had these for a few years now and not had this issue. The leaves on the top are dying, leaves on the bottom are turning red then brown?

the colour change often happens as part of the normal autumn colouring as the plant dies back. I see you are in the usa, has your weather put the plant understress ie too dry or suddenly cooler that might have triggered the plant to go into autumn mode?
try a general feed and water moderately, so it doesnt become watrelogged.
