I am a firm believer of the 'sow at once' method, Gattina, but I live in a cool, moist climate. If you manage to germinate your seed quickly they are just going to shrivel in the heat. I think that your idea of waiting until the weather cools a bit is a good one. Do you have a lot of each seed? If so, you could maybe sow some next month and the rest in January (rather than spring).

I'd certainly 'hedge my bets' with these. Most seeds are sent in quantities that you would never need even if only half germinated. I seem to remember that it can get pretty cold in January where you are (or am I thinking of somebody else?) so, I'd do more or less what Bulbaholic recommends, but leave the second lot until more clement weather is on the way, maybe March, but only you can decide that.

No, you are right, Sarra, Winters can be and often are very cold here. There's not a lot of seed (these days is there ever?) but probably enough to do the "belt and braces" sowing you both suggest. I do have cooler cellars, but these are dark, and probably not at all the conditions a little seedling would like to find itself in. Bulba, the Artemisia, in particular are supposed to germinate very rapidly, as far as I can see, so I think you are absolutely right, next month and Spring sowings, and crossed fingers for a cooler autumn, a gentle winter and an early spring.
