I have a really healthy patio rose. noticed that there are two strong looking redish branches coming from base, are these ones I should remove, not sure if they are suckers

As a guide suckers usually have one more pair of leaflets than the grafted ones.

Definately suckers.......now the suckers are gone.

Trace them down and if they are below the joint pull them off.
But if above likely to be nice new growth so leave.
